There’s a dead man’s truck
Outside my window
They took his body
But they left his ride
Sometime past midnight
I heard the engine
Try to turn over
With no one inside
The headlights flickered
The brake lights flashed red
Keyhole was empty
Battery was dead
I sat up all night
Watching and waiting
‘til a vivid dream
Overtook my head
The truck was floating
Just above the ground
Shiny and restored
Playfully honking
The man rode shotgun
With the window down
Leading a parade
Waving and smiling
Then they sped away
Straight into the sun
Rising up like smoke
Inhaled by the light
I woke up startled
Sprang to the window
The truck had vanished
With the dark of night
I hurried outside
To search for answers
Some clues left behind
In the empty space
But when I arrived
Just moments later
A shiny new truck
Had taken its place
