Vanilla Ice Cream Cone

Vanilla Ice Cream Cone - Rondym Kiefe

White picket fences
Straddle the edges
Sprawling green pastures
Of freshly cut grass
Echoing laughter
Of children at playtime
Wispy cloud figures
That smile as they pass

Powder blue background
Brimming with sunshine
Fields of new blossoms
A feast for the bees
Flowers drink sunlight
With bright yellow petals
Sharing their fragrance
To sweeten the breeze

Rose just past sunup
Renewed and refreshed
Cartoons and breakfast
Brushed up and got dressed
Showed up in person
To round up our friends
Collect all the rascals
And plan the day’s quest

Plenty of daylight
Stretching through supper
Neighbors would gather
Outdoors for a meal
Sharing their stories
Of daytime adventures
A privileged existence
We measured in thrills

Tummies replenished
Kids rallied once more
Inventing new contests
We found ways to play
Giving the big kids
A break from the bustle
To talk of adult things
And laugh in their way

Yawning moms hollered
To call the kids home
For nightly routines
Bath jammies and bed
Eyes fell shut quickly
To sleep deep and restful
That rebuilt our bodies
And reset our heads

Days of my childhood
I’ll never forget
Life was connected
We lived face to face
Plenty and then some
A playground of virtue
We learned things by living
And being in one place
